This page lists a few tips and tricks to improve the chance of catching fish.
Largely fishing is about timing and making sure you have a clear shot of the object you are trying for. Use the magnet to gather piles of trash as it's not worth attempting going after fish with.
You can also earn up to 80 baits from ads by tapping on the yellow plus icon next to your bait count. You can also purchase bait with cod in that area, but it gets expensive fast (up to 32 million for a total of 12 baits).
General tips[]
Refreshing the Fishing Pond[]
The pond refreshes the starting animation of the items spawned every 3 minutes, so if you exit out of the pond and enter again within the same cycle you will see the same items spawn in the same spots.
Upgrading Rabbit Ding[]
Giving Rabbit Ding promotions decreases the "miss" rate which is the chance that the fish will come off the hook. There is still the "scared" rate, which is not something players can affect. "Scared" rate is when the fish avoids the hook.
Fishing at friends' pond[]
The Fishing Pond from your friends will always spawn a lot of items when you reset them. This can be used to catch fish that swim closer to the top of the pond like Cuttlefish, Seahorse or Starfish or fish that takes a long time to spawn like Shark. However due to the number of items, you will have a lot of junk or unwanted fish swimming to your hook, so just experiment with it to see what yields the best result.
Shark[]
Shark | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 45% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 70% |
Tips from /u/shiny_ferret_smasher. Original post: Shark fishing tip
- You're more like to catch sharks that swim right to left than left to right. Along with this, aiming for the fin to tail section has better chances of the shark not becoming scared and swimming away.
- The pond will spawn the same types of items for a 3-minute cycle. If a shark spawns, after you fail to catch it, exit and re-enter the pond to have the same shark spawn again.
- If you have a shark spawning at pond entry from the right, hit the cast button right around here:
Jellyfish[]
Jellyfish | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 20% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 50% |
Tree Branch[]

Chance of unhooking after catching: | 30% |
Crab[]
Crab | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 35% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 45% |
- If a crab appears from the right side as soon as you enter the pond, hit the bait button once Rabbit Ding is centered over the yellow plus icon. Nearly every time you will hook the crab unless there are other items in the way or if the crab speeds up at the last moment.
- Example of the crab / Rabbit Ding line up:
Starfish[]
Starfish | |

Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 25% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 70% |
Clownfish[]

Flounder[]

Red Puffer[]
Red Puffer | |

Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 45% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 55% |
- An inflated Red Puffer is easier to catch. So you should wait until the Red Puffer collides with other fish and inflates itself.
Squid[]

Pink Shell[]
Pink Shell | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 45% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 60% |
Tips and video from /u/Capital_World. Original post: Catching pink shells -- not the best, but here are some tips!
- Chill until you see a pink shell float by. Exit and come back -- the pink shell should be coming from the right of the screen (or the left, either one works!)
- Eyeball where the middle of the lake is, and then cast your bait when you're a little to the right of it (if you experiment and find that you catch that shell at a different spot e.g. closer to the right of the screen or something, then keep using that same spot when you exit/return to the pond)
- If you catch your pink shell (congrats!), it wriggles off, or you miss/catch something else, exit out of the pond and come back. Repeat.
- The types of fish change every 3 minutes or something like that, so when that pink shell goes away, just wait until a new one shows up and repeat.
Sea Urchin[]
Sea Urchin | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 30% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 35% |
- Catching Sea Urchin is very similar to catching Crab, just with different timing of dropping the hook.
- Example of the Sea Urchin/Rabbit Ding line up:
Seahorse[]
Seahorse | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 40% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 45% |
Butterfly Fish[]
Butterfly Fish | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 45% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 80% |
- Butterflyfish has a very high "miss" rate and "scared" rate by default, so it's expected that most players will use a lot of bait in order to catch one.
- Butterflyfish will keep respawning right away for 3 hours if not caught, so just keep resetting the pond to get a clear shot of the fish before throwing the hook so that you don't waste your baits.
- Aiming for the brown spot on the fish seems to yield more success.
Cuttlefish[]
Cuttlefish | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 40% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 45% |
Ray[]
Ray | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 45% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 80% |
- Similar to Butterflyfish, Ray has a very high "miss" rate and "scared" rate by default, so it's expected that most players will use a lot of bait in order to catch one.
- Ray will keep respawning right away for 3 hours if not caught, so just keep resetting the pond to get a clear shot of the fish before throwing the hook so that you don't waste your baits.
Hermit Crab[]
Hermit Crab | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 30% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 45% |
- If a Hermit Crab appears from the right side as soon as you enter the pond, hit the bait button once Rabbit Ding is in the position as the guide shown below. Nearly every time you will hook the Hermit Crab unless there are other items in the way or if the crab speeds up at the last moment.
- Hermit Crab has a similar speed to Sea Urchin.
- When Hermit Crab is scared it moves faster along the bottom.
- Example of the Hermit Crab/Rabbit Ding line up:
Goldfish[]
Goldfish | |
---|---|
Chance of being scared away when the hook is near: | 40% |
Chance of unhooking after catching: | 45% |
- Once a Goldfish reaches the center of the pond, it will usually change direction.
- Aim for the wen (the large growth on the head).
